Sully Stewart | Director of Operations
Current City: Chicago, IL
Hometown: Oak Park, IL
Next up in our series is our Director of Operations, Sully Stewart. Sully brings considerable technical talents to Rise Gardens from his previous experience leading the operations of a large-scale indoor vertical farm. His engineering capabilities and a practical approach to high-tech are the foundation for our sophisticated growing system.
Why did you choose to work with Rise Gardens?
I had prior work experience with large scale hydroponics and fell in love with growing plants. Rise Gardens gave me the opportunity to channel that experience to bring hydroponics into the kitchen!
What's your favorite dish to cook?
Stir Fry! You can prep all of the veggies on Sunday and you're set for the week, throw some fresh Thai basil on top, and you're set.
Tell us about your gardening experience.
I used to garden with my grandma but nothing really stuck. I had a black thumb until I started working at a local hydroponic farm where I learned how easy it was to grow plants in water!
Do you have any special secret talents?
I like to juggle!
What are you reading right now?
Thinking Fast and Slow
What are you watching on TV right now?
I've exhausted all the HBO series and have worked my way backwards to the Sopranos
How do you spend your free time?
Before COVID, I would spend my time at the Rock Climbing Gym. My quarantining hobbies consist of playing the piano or video games.
Do you have any pets?
I have my cat Clyde. He's the best cat ever—until he's not. We're partners in crime so I guess that makes me Bonnie.
